Total US measured advertising spending is projected to increase 4.2% in 2008. Measured expenditures are forecast to grow by 3.6% in the first half of 2008 followed by a gain of 4.7% in the second half.

The total number of television households within the US (including Alaska and Hawaii) will be 112.8 million by January 1, 2008 - an increase of 1.3% from the previous year - with the number of viewers age 2+ increasing 1%, to 286 million, Nielsen estimates.

Enough of the SWAG

Are you sick and tired of all the useless SWAG. How many more t-shirts, cheap compasses and backpacks, branded with companies logos that probably will be in out of business within a year. SWAG needs to become more useful and desired like the Academy Awards Gift bag containing roughly $62,000 worth of product. Sultans of Swag pay top dollar to establish a temporary relationship with celebrities of almost any caliber who willingly or unwillingly serve as unofficial "brand" ambassadors. The increased exposure and brand awareness leads to sales. In theory it's not so very different from fashion designers dressing celebrities for the big show, each is after the holy grail: On-Air Placement. So make me feel like a celebrity and give me great SWAG!
 
The Growth for Online Content

Internet users are spending nearly half their online time visiting content, a 37% increase in share of time from four years ago, according to the Online Publishers Association (OPA). Communications accounted for 46% of consumers' time online in 2003. A dramatic shift has taken place since then, with consumers now spending 47% of their time with content, compared with 34% four years ago. The 37% gain in share for content is followed closely by a 35% gain in share for search. However the total time being spent with search remains relatively low, accounting for just 5% of Internet users online time in 2007.
