Local advertising will grow at a CAGR of 13% from 2007 to 2012, faster than will online advertising as a whole (which will grow 12%). Display and search advertising are leading the way, with CAGRs of 18% and 16%, respectively, during the next 5 years. Online local classified advertising, will grow at a CAGR of 10%.

The GPS Dellimma E-mail

The process of buying a GPS has gotten even more difficult. The in-car GPS system that are fully integrated allow the the GPS to work radio / speakers but the portable devices are cheaper and are including more features - what are you going to get?

Phone as a GPS Navigator
I use a PocketPC (Verizon xv6700) paired with an external bluetooth GPS receiver that is small enough to go into my pocket. The only thing missing from the included software, iNavigator, is real-time traffic, but you can use Microsoft Live or Google Maps. 
 
I hope Verizon decides to unlock the internal GPS soon...

Portable GPS is great
I have a portable Garmin unit with traffic, Bluetooth and MP3. The traffic and Bluetooth are excellent; I use them constantly. I rarely use the MP3. I have it loaded with songs, but the speakers are not good enough to make it an enjoyable experience. 
 
As far as portability, I just took it with me to Sundance, and I drove all over Utah without touching a map -- even though I had never been there before. On my way back to the SLC airport, the unit even routed me off the freeway to avoid some heavy traffic, saving me at least 15 minutes. 
 
The best $350 I ever spent.
