Has the choices gotten hard when choosing an new mobile device. Its not about the outside of the phone (the camera, the screen) it's about the inside of the device - The OS. More specific, what can be downloaded on to the device. Mobile phone makers realize the consumer wants more control of the applications on their device and are offering a wide range of download to enhance of mobile phone experience.

why no operating system standards?
on most home computers you can install windows and have a stable operating system that you can use most any windows compatable software. The technology is here, why cant they do this with cell phones? At least let us have a open source operating system option that we can use without having to hack our cell phones. I swear it is almost like another format war going on here. and I don't think that any of them know how much $$$ they are losing because of this.. If I buy a home computer, it has a hardware profile listed on the box that I can see before I buy it. Is that so hard with a cell phone?
