Society is not of one mind about whether pornography is healthy or unhealthy, or even how to define it. But few disagree that porn, by whatever definition, is more prevalent than ever in popular culture. Precise statistics are hard to come by, but the most widely cited figures suggest that the porn industry in the United States rakes in more than $13 billion annually, including nearly $3 billion from the Internet. An estimated 4.2 million Web sites, or 12% of all sites, feature porn. Porn gets a lot of credit for pushing technology forward.
